![]() ![]() You’ll need a strong defense to survive everything RimWorld throws at you. And what kind of space dystopia would be complete without hostile raiders, killer robots, and carnivorous giant bugs? The recent Biotech expansion gave each of these aforementioned threats their own unique flavors you’ll have to contend with. Your pawns and the bad guys will take cover if under fire and there is a new mechanic for suppressing fire you will notice.RimWorld is a storytelling sandbox game about a group of far-future humans struggling to survive in a hostile alien world. Enemies will drop all sorts of weapons with appropriate ammo for early game, and they can run out of ammo. There is a learning curve, for sure, but if you want to make the game much more realistic even at the expense of having to re-learn, I think its worth it.Īmmunition manufacture also requires Machining and a special bench, but most ammo only requires steel to make. It adds realism and complexity, and I always play with it on, even for a relatively peaceful playthrough. Originally posted by Preechr:Its a massive overhaul of combat, which you may or may not care for. Obviously, you wouldn't want to just subscribe to all of those, but you might find some mods there you find interesting if you are looking at CE. I put together a list of some patches for a few popular mods along with some other combat related, QoL and UI mods that work well with a fun CE playthrough. hell, every type of weapon works more like their real world counterparts are intended, so you could actually use lifelike squad tactics in Rimworld if you choose. It all just works more like it should have to begin with. Guns can be set for single shot, burst* or full auto* (*if applicable) and you can choose various accuracy levels as well.Įverything changes with CE. The modder Owlchemist has made several mods that address Combat Extended compatibility as well as changing the way it behaves, including a mod that makes ammunition less complex.Īmmunition manufacture also requires Machining and a special bench, but most ammo only requires steel to make. Weapons and armor mods will obviously need patching, but many mods are built to work with CE without a patch. For instance, unpatched animals could be invulnerable to most types of damage or an unpatched race could be super weak. Oh, and that's an expensive soldier, so prepare for some hefty retaliation.īecause the overhaul is so comprehensive, any mods that touch on combat (which includes alien and animal mods) will either need to be built to work with CE or have a patch to make them work. Just as an example of how OP CE with mods can be, you can set up a fully bionic (EPOE advanced spine, legs and arms with exoskeleton) soldier with a Degtyarev DP and a Tec9 sidearm with a few hundred rounds of extra 7.62×54mm and Para 9mm (Armor Piercing) that can leave your colony, travel to and wipe out a pirate village (solo) and be back by lunch. You may also have issues with Animal Handlers if their weapon loadout is so bulky or heavy that they can't carry taming/training treats. You will have much greater use for bionic modifications that increase carry capacity and speed for your soldiers. CE adds backpacks and tactical vests that can be of help here. CE changes the way pawn inventory works as well, so now mass and bulk are factors for how much stuff a pawn can carry, and ammunition (as well as any sidearms and their ammo) will add mass and bulk. If you choose to have the ammunition requirement, your pawns will need to load their weapons with the correct ammo and carry spare ammo in their inventory. ![]() There are also CE expansions to overhaul weapons and to add shields (for pre-modern playthroughs.) The mod will also install with ammunition being required for all ranged weapons, but you can turn that off just to get the base mechanics. The base mod adds hitboxes and changes the mechanisms for bleeding, limb and organ damage as well as how healing works. There is a learning curve, for sure, but if you want to make the game much more realistic even at the expense of having to re-learn, I think its worth it. ![]() Its a massive overhaul of combat, which you may or may not care for. ![]()
